What we do
The physiotherapy service aims to improve your ability to move and function in daily life by:
- performing individual physical assessments
- setting specific goals as discussed with you
- tailoring specific therapeutic treatments and exercise programs to help you reach your goals.
Physiotherapists are highly trained and use a wide range of treatment approaches, which include:
- exercise programs to improve mobility and strengthen muscles
- joint mobilisation to reduce pain and stiffness
- muscle re-education to improve control
- airway clearance techniques and breathing exercises
- assistance with use of aids, splints, crutches, walking sticks and wheelchairs
- education regarding your condition and how you can help manage it yourself.
The physiotherapist is also involved with the Balance Group and Transition Care Program.
Who can use our service?
Anyone aged over 18 years can access the Physiotherapy service.
Please note – South Gippsland Hospital does not provide Physiotherapy services to NDIS participants.
Supporting movement, strength and independence through personalised physiotherapy assessment, treatment and exercise programs.
How you access
Family or self-referrals are welcome, or clients may be referred by their GP or other health professional.

For people over 65 (or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people over 50):

There is a small fee associated with this service.

What to bring
- Medicare card
- Health Care Card and / or concession card (if you have one)
- Previous X-ray films, scans, ultrasounds or any other test results or reports
- Medicines you need to take while you are here
- Glasses, hearing aid(s) and/or walking frame if needed
