South Coast Prevention

Health care providers working together in South Gippsland.

South Gippsland Hospital works as part of a wider primary prevention and health promotion team across Bass Coast and South Gippsland local government areas (the South Coast).

The South Coast Prevention Team is a result of a strong commitment by Bayside Health Regional (consisting of legacy health services Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service and Kooweerup Regional Health Service) and South Gippsland Hospital to work collectively across the sub-region with pooled health promotion resources. This model has provided clearer policy direction and better alignment of prevention work across the sub-region since it began in 2019.

The South Coast Prevention Team take a place-based, population wide approach to primary prevention that recognises that people and places are inter-related and that places where people spend their time play an important role in shaping their health and wellbeing.
