South Gippsland Community Walks Together for IDAHOBIT

South Gippsland Hospital (SGH) has joined with community members and local health services to mark IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination, taking part in its 4th annual Pride March, that brought people of all ages together in a show of support and inclusion.

The march saw participation from local community members, secondary school students, Ambulance Victoria, Prom Country Aged Care, Foster Medical Centre, Manna Gum Community House, and South Gippsland Shire representatives walking side by side.

Participants highlighted the importance of respect, understanding and access to inclusive health care for everyone.

Director of Community Care Samantha Park said events like IDAHOBIT were an important opportunity for the community to stand together as allies.

“Good health care starts with people feeling safe, respected and understood. Seeing our community come together like this shows the strength of South Gippsland and our shared commitment to looking after one another,” Samantha said.

SGH continues to work alongside community partners to promote inclusive practices and ongoing support for LGBTQIA+ people and their families.
